20th April 2008 : Dazaifu Part 2

As I have said, Dazaifu was once the administrative center for Fukuoka district. Historically, it became the main worship place as well. As we walked in deeper, we came upon a temple for 'Zen' religion or informally known as the 'japanese religion'. Visitors are supposed to wash their hands at the temple gate before entering temple compound as a sign of respect. At the point of time, the 'priest' is performing a ritual in the temple main hall.

Wooden plaques are sold for those who wanted to pen down their wish on it to be hung in temple compound (usually under a tree). The purpose? They are for 'gods' to see and fulfill their wishes. These wishes ranging from family and personal needs. Yet it is interesting to note that for 100yen (RM3), a fortune teller note can be dispensed from a nearby 'kiosk'. If it is not favourable, get another wooden plaque, write a wish and hang for the 'gods' to see..............
